ChicagoTip™ Frazier | Self-Cleaning Surgical Suction Designed to Clog Less Often

ChicagoTip™ Frazier is a disposable self-cleaning surgical suction from Neuro Enterprises designed to clog less often than conventional Frazier suction tips. If an obstruction does occur, its embedded retractable stylet is designed to clear the suction pathway quickly without disconnecting the tip from the suction tubing.

A Frazier suction designed to reduce clogging interruptions

Surgical suction can become obstructed by tissue, blood, bone debris, and other material. ChicagoTip addresses the problem in two ways: the suction is designed to clog less often during use, and the internal stylet provides an integrated method for clearing an obstruction when one occurs. This is the practical meaning behind searches such as ‘suction tip that doesn’t clog,’ ‘no-clog Frazier suction,’ and ‘anti-clog surgical suction.’ ChicagoTip is not described as physically impossible to obstruct.

How the self-cleaning mechanism works

The retractable stylet is aligned with the suction lumen. When material obstructs the pathway, the user advances and retracts the stylet to dislodge the obstruction while the suction remains connected to the tubing. The mechanism is intended to reduce the interruption associated with disconnecting, manually clearing, or exchanging a conventional suction tip solely because of a clog.

Stainless steel distal tip

ChicagoTip Frazier uses a stainless steel distal tip. The stainless steel working tip is chip resistant and provides a strong alternative to disposable suction designs that use softer tip materials.
